The Greers Ferry Fishing Derby held Saturday was a success! Thank you to sponsors Greers Ferry Bait & Tackle, GFL Laundry, West Side School District, and Trout Unlimited and to the City for prize donations and mowing around the pond before the derby. We extend a special thank you to the Bittles, who let us use their pond every year. Congratulations to the winners ... Biggest fish: Oakley Sasaki; Smallest fish: Aubrey Willis; and Most fish: Harvey Johnson. Can’t wait for next year!
The fishing derby was a huge success! Thank you to all of our kiddos who came and participated. Congratulations to our welding students! Dylan Strain, Jaxon Peel, and CJ Parks competed in the Arkansas Elite Welding Academy Competition. CJ won the pipe welding competition at the Arkansas Elite Welding Academy in Quitman. $15,000.00 in scholarships and other prizes.
Congratulations to Haygen Smith for his selection as the Jr High Soaring Eagle for April. Our local Subway has donated a sandwich and cookie to help him celebrate this accomplishment.

The time of today's conference softball and baseball games at Viola have been moved up 30 minutes to a 4 pm start. JV games will follow the varsity game.
The Greers Ferry Fishing Derby for ages 4 and up is from 9 am to noon Saturday at Bittle Pond.

Exciting News for West Side CTE!
This funding will kickstart an exciting journey for our students, providing the tools, training, and opportunities to explore high-demand careers in banking.
We’re excited to grow this program from the ground up — and even more excited for what it means for our students and community!
Congratulations to our Local Winners of the 1st -4th grade spelling bee! 1st grade winner: Clara Galeazzi and Raelyn Yaeger was the runner-up. 2nd grade winner: Matthew Sutton and Monica Dungan: runner-up. 3rd grade winner: Carter Bigham and Miah McMackin: runner-up. 4th grade winner: Chloe Galeazzi and Wyatt Wilson: runner-up. These students will go on to compete in the county bee next month.
Congratulations to West Side Sophomore, Jaiden Bible, for being selected as the April Soaring Eagle! Jaiden will receive a free sub and cookie from our local Subway as a thank you for his hard work and dedication as a West Side Eagle.

The schedule of home baseball games on Mon 4/ 21 has changed to a V/V doubleheader because of recent rainouts. The Eagles play a varsity conference game vs. Calico Rock at 4 pm and a varsity non-conference game vs. Guy-Perkins at about 6 pm.
Don't forget to Purple Up on Friday, April 11th, for our military kids!
The Floriculture Team showed remarkable growth and dedication to finish the year with an 8th place in the Arkansas FFA State Career Development Contest. Thank You to Diandra Verser for the team shirts and tumblers!
Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 school year will be held Thursday, April 17th from 8:30 am to 2 p.m. Your child will need to come with parents to the elementary office for a Kindergarten pre-screener; however, West Side pre-K students do NOT need to take the screener.
