
West Side 5th & 6th Graders recently got to visit with employees from Eagle Bank in Greers Ferry. Students learned all about personal finance: savings, filling out a check, and the difference between a debit and credit card.

To push West Side into the State Championship game, freshman Lacy Baker knocked in the winning run against Wonderview to break a 3-3 tie two innings into extra play as drama mounted for the two schools. The time of the title game will be decided. The game will be played at Benton

West Side's softball team topped Wonderview, 4-3, in 9 innings, to earn a spot in next week's state championship game against Taylor, which defeated Guy-Perkins.

The baseball team jumped to a 6-1 lead before losing, 11-9, to Taylor in the quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Tournament at Arkadelphia. The loss ends a very successful season for the conference, district, and regional champs, finishing 22-5.

Congratulations to the softball team, which beat Mount Vernon-Enola, 7-4, to advance to the Class 1A State Tournament semifinals! They play Wonderview at noon tomorrow at the Arkadelphia youth sports complex with the winner advancing to the state championship game.
