West Side Eagle Choir recently visited Lyon College in Batesville to watch a rehearsal of the Lyon College Gospel Choir!

Anthony Kohman, Willow Passmore and Melissa Treat had the opportunity to join 27 other students from across Arkansas for artSPARK at the Windgate Center of Art + Design on the UALR campus. During the morning session, they worked with hue, value and chromatic intensity while oil painting with pallet knives. The afternoon session was about exploring gesture and proportions through figure drawing with a live, clothed model. Afterward they were given a tour of the facility. When told that 2 of our students were studying and competing in welding, we were given a more in-depth tour of the 3D studios of wood, ceramics and metal fabrication and sculpture.

Congratulations to Gabe Hodges! Gabe was "Caught Being Kind" by encouraging his peers, complimenting others, and having a positive attitude. What a great example to others, Gabe!

Mrs. Robin's 6th graders have completed their first art project: oil pastel batiks. The process requires crumpling paper and covering it with India ink. The ink then settles into the cracks and gives the piece an aged look. Great job, art students!

Congratulations to Abbey Winchell for "Caught Being Kind" in Mrs. Kelli's 5th grade. Abbey showed kindness to others by putting a peer's things away in their locker for them. Keep shining, Abbey!
