EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: TAMMY CARLTON
Tammy has been a paraprofessional at the district for 19 years and has driven a bus for 26 1/2 years. When Tammy has free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, and watching tv.
7th-10th Grade West Side Students will be taking the ACT Aspire Summative Assessments April 6th-8th. Please make sure your child is well rested and has a good breakfast to help prepare for the tests.
3rd-6th Grade Virtual Students will be taking the ACT Aspire Summative Assessments April 6th-8th. Grades 3-5 will test at 8:30 in the morning and 6th grade will test beginning at 12 pm. Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep and brings their chromebook to the test. You may check in at the elementary office prior to testing.
Today is National School Librarian Day, and West Side School District has a wonderful librarian. Thank you Mrs. Kim Linville for all you do for our kids and school!

Congratulations to three West Side Athletes who earned state honors by the Arkansas Activities Association. Kamryn Sutterfield, Malachi Miller, and Travis Gentry received 2021 1A All Tournament Basketball Team honors! Kamryn and Travis also received 1A All State Honors! Congratulations on an amazing season!
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: PAM LINEBARGER
Pam is the district treasurer at West Side and has worked at the district for almost twelve years. In her spare time, Pam enjoys spending time with her family and taking care of her fur baby, Millie.
West Side 4H will hold sign-ups on Tuesday, April 6th and Thursday, April 8th at the City Park from 5-8 pm.
The West Side Book Fair on-line shopping will be available next week, April 5th-9th. This is for on-line purchases only.
West Side Elementary Parents: If your child is missing a coat, hoodie, or jacket, please have them to check the lost and found at school. You may also come up and look for missing outerwear yourself after checking in at the office. Help us find homes for these lost items .
West Side Baseball picked up another win yesterday against Nemo Vista. Final score was 16-4. Way to go boys!
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: TERESA BIRMINGHAM
Teresa is the K-12 Gifted and Talented teacher at West Side. In her twenty-two years as a teacher, she has taught 4th and 1st grade as well as her current position. In her free time, Teresa enjoys spending time with her family, watching her son, Zack, play sports, and reading.
WSHS students have gone above and beyond in FBLA this year. Not only did they place in the top 5 at the district level to qualify for the state conference, but they have now placed in the top 4 to qualify for the national conference this summer. These students have persevered through these uncertain times and represented WSHS and FBLA very well. Congratulations!!
Travis Gentry, Dax Hipp, Ruston Holt, and Kirby Cothren placed 1st in Parliamentary Procedure. Kaleb Tangen, Ashton Klepko, and Dawson Inzer placed 4th in Marketing.
West Side Elementary students got to participate in the Jr Chef program this week sponsored by K-12 Culinary.
West Side Cheer Tryouts will be on Friday, April 9th at 3:13 pm in the Brady-Hipp Arena. There will also be a cheer clinic this Saturday, April 3rd from 8 am to 2 pm in the Arena. For more information contact Mrs. Holly Shaw.
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: POLLY PARKER
Mrs. Polly is a first grade teacher at West Side Elementary, and while this is only her second year in the district she has been teaching for twenty-three years. When she has free time, Mrs. Polly enjoys camping, golfing, and boating.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES School will dismiss early at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in advance of Parent-Teacher Conferences. An earlier announcement misstated the dismissal time. Conferences will be held from 3-7 p.m. Elementary parents have been contacted about scheduling times for conferences and should enter the building through the glass doors by the office. High School parents will check in at the lobby of Gathright Gymnasium to pick up class schedules and 3rd 9-week report cards. They will visit teachers' classrooms. Masks are recommended. All attending are asked to abide by 6-foot social distancing whenever possible.
Eagles Softball and Baseball continued conference play yesterday with both teams defeating Norfork. Softball won with a score of 21-0, and Baseball won 12-0!
Congratulations to the West Side School Food Service Team! The ladies recently won the K-12 Culinary Connection Golden Spatula Award. They received a trophy and a wonderful meal prepared by K-12 Culinary Chef Matt. Thank you ladies for your diligence and hard work to make our school possible!
Per the governor's announcement which changed the mask mandate to a recommendation, the board voted to modify current policy to no longer require students and employees to wear face coverings effective March 31. Although it is no longer a requirement to wear a face covering, it is still recommended by ADH to do so.
All other previous Covid protocol will remain unchanged at this point.
