Mount Ida, which eliminated West Side from the state baseball tournament, lost to Taylor in the championship game today, 9-3.

Congratulations to Carter Bigham, Chloe Galeazzi, and Waverly Verser as they represented West Side well at the Cleburne County Spelling Bee! Carter came away with the 1st place trophy! Chloe brought home 2nd place for 2nd grade, and Waverly won 1st place in the 4th grade competition! Way to go!

West Side Elementary School's End of the Year Awards ceremony will be Monday, May 22, for grades 1st - 6th. The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the old cafeteria.

Lots of students and teachers were Caught Being Kind last week! Congratulations to Mrs. Waters for being so kind, Mrs. Layne for always being there for me, Annabelle for helping a classmate with a pencil, Brooklyn for being kind and helpful, Ivan for knowing a teacher needed a pick me up, and Sawyer who let another student hold the door when they asked.


Fun for all ages at West Side on Friday with the Careers on Wheels event organized by Counelor, Orene Morgan. Students were able to see and learn about careers from yard service, lineman, police, and game and fish to name just a few. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who gave up time to make this event happen!

West Side’s baseball season ended in Taylor at the Class 1A State Tournament with a loss to Mt. Ida in the quarterfinals, 11-4. Finishing 20-5, the Eagles had a very successful season.
