It's Gameday! West Side softball and baseball are in semifinal games, starting at 1 pm, in the District 1A-2 Tournament hosted by West Side.
STAR STUDENT: AUTUMN WILLIS
Mrs. Tori's Kindergarten Star Student is Autumn Willis. Autumn received a certificate and water bottle filled with goodies from Officer Donald because she shows respect to others. Congratulations, Autumn!
Mrs. Teresa's Elementary GT students, who are working on a Fairy Tales on Trial Unit, recently had a visit from Drew Smith. Drew is the Prosecuting Attorney for the 16th Judicial District. He shared about his job as well as other jobs involved with the court system and answered lots of questions from the kids. Drew is also a West Side alumni and a student in Mrs. Teresa's 4th grade class.
With its 11-1 victory yesterday over Calico Rock, West Side Softball qualified for next week's regional at Marked Tree. The baseball team qualified automatically by finishing 1st in Conference Play. Both teams play in the district semifinals at 1 pm today at West Side.

Seniors participated in the Let's Get Real -- Here's the Deal program. They were taught about gross and net income, deductions, and credit. Each student was given a persona with differing career and family information. They then had to make purchases of essential items such as housing, groceries, transportation, child care, etc., while balancing their checkbook.
West Side High School was named one of the top high schools in the nation today by U.S. News in the best High Schools ranking.

West Side Elementary Chess Club competed in the Regional Tournament at Arch Ford last week. Team members who competed were: Waverly Verser, Asher Hensley, Delaney McCabe, and Eli Yarman. Everyone did a great job!
