West Side Elementary recently experienced the Arkansas Farm to You program, which follows food from the farm to the market and through the body. High school students in Ms. Wood's agri classes and Mrs. Barger's FACS classes shared information at each station of the interactive program.
Mr. Caleb's 5th graders recently enjoyed another guest speaker, Roger Rucker, who shared his experience as a missionary in Africa where he and his family lived for over 30 years! They talked about the difference between surface culture (the things that are easy to see) and deep culture (the things that take time to learn about people). Students also got to try some hummus and pita bread... Most of them gave it a try!

Last week, Mr. Caleb's 5th graders heard guest speaker, Amanda Hall, talk about her travels to the continent of Asia! Students learned about the various Asian cultures and even some of the peculiar things people eat around the world... Don't ask if you're squeamish! Students also got to participate in a currency challenge where they had to guess the origin and value in USD of many types of currency from around the world.
