It is Jersey Night tonight! Please come out and support the Jr. Boys, Sr. Girls & Sr. Boys BB teams here against Concord!
Update: On December 16, Jr. & Sr. Girls will travel to Viola for games at 4:30.

Just a reminder that Little Dribblers will be performing tonight in the new gym. (K-1) needs to be there by 5:00, performing halftime of the JR Boys game and the (2-3) grade by 6:00 and will be performing at halftime of the SR Girls game.
Also Little Dribblers will be performing tomorrow during the pee wee games in the old gym. (K-1) needs to be there by 10:00 and (2-3) grade by 11:00.
Please listen carefully because the order of the pee wee games tomorrow at home vs Concord have changed, we will be playing all girls games first: Starting at 9:00 will be 4th grade girls, then 5th grade girls, and then the 6th grade girls will play. Then we will play the boys games, 4th,5th and 6th grade.

How many years have you been teaching/in education? 28
Where did you graduate high school from? Gillett High School
What was your favorite subject in High School? Physics and Trigonometry
Why did you become a teacher? I didn’t intend on being a teacher, but I decided it would be a good job for a wife and mother. I really wanted to be a meteorologist.
What is your favorite part of teaching at West Side High School? It’s a small school like the one I went to. The bosses and my coworkers are pretty cool too.
What is your favorite characteristic in your students? I love it when the light bulb comes on, followed by “Ohhh!”
What are your hobbies outside of school? They are nonexistent right now, but when I retire in May, I plan to travel and fish when I can.
Who is your biggest role model, and why? My mother worked worked 2 jobs when I was growing up to provide for our family. She did not let us miss school unless we were very sick or for a very important reason. She overcame a lot of really difficult things and managed to raise 4 kids.
Favorite class to teach? Trigonometry

The West Side Senior High girls and boys basketball teams will play in the Quitman Fast Break Classic November 30 through December 7.


The Eagle Bus, which picks up students in Prim and Woodrow, and along Highway 92, will be running 30-40 minutes late today.

UPDATE: Jr. Boys Basketball team, NOT Girls (as originally scheduled) will play at 5:00 against Sacred Heart, along with both Sr. teams on Monday, 11/25.

Good Morning West Side Elementary!
This is Amy Gentry and I wanted to remind you about our first pee wee basketball game and little dribbler performance this Saturday in the old gym.
Guy does not have a 4th grade girls team and will not have enough 5th grade girls to play this weekend. So the order and times are:
9:00 start will be 4th grade boys
around 9:45 will be 5th grade boys
(k-1) little dribblers will perform (make sure the little dribblers are there by 10:00)
around 10:30 will be the 6th grade girls following will be the (2nd and 3rd grade little dribblers- make sure they are there by 11)
and last will be the 6th grade boys around 11:15
Also parents, please make sure your child does not wear their uniform before or after the game unless they are wearing something that covers the uniform.

Why did you become a teacher? I had an Aunt that had Down Syndrome, so I started out as a Special Education teacher before I became a Principal.
What is your favorite part of teaching at West Side High School? Being around students and working with a great instructional team.
What is your favorite characteristic in your students? Honesty.
What are your hobbies outside of school? Reading and spending time with my family.
Who is your biggest role model and why? David Campell, because he was my first principal and I learned a lot about education from him.
