
West Side Senior High Cross Country teams competed today in the 1A State competition at Hot Springs. The Senior Girls brought home the State Championship title! Haley Gentry placed 4th and Kadence Dilks placed 5th. The Senior Boys placed 3rd in the state with Travis Gentry
taking the 6th place finish, Dax Hipp in 7th, and Carson Stark finishing 8th! Way to go Eagles!

The Book Fair is coming to West Side School November 9th-13th. Students may shop from 7:30-3:20 in the library. Unfortunately, parents are not allowed to shop with their child this year though.


West Side will be celebrating Homecoming Week November 16th-20th. Homecoming ceremonies will be on Thursday, November 19th at 6:30 in the Brady-Hipp Arena.


West Side School District Parents/Families:
The District is reporting today that a student and two employees have tested positive for COVID-19. The student and employees have been directed to isolate according to applicable guidelines. We are currently tracing all probable close contacts with the student; they will be contacted individually and will be directed to quarantine. If you are not contacted individually, then your child was not considered a probable close contact to the person who tested positive.
WSSD has been in contact with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and is taking all appropriate actions to follow the directives and guidelines issued by the Arkansas Department of Health and the U.S. Center for Disease Control in order to assure the safety of students and staff. The District will have no further comment at this time due to the confidentiality requirements imposed by
applicable state and federal laws

West Side Homecoming shirts are now on sale. You Can't Mask Our Eagle Pride, is our theme this year. The shirts will be white with green writing. They are $10 for youth x-small-adult x-large and $12 for adult xx-large & xxx-large. Orders and money are due Tuesday, Nov. 10th!


The West Side senior high Cross Country teams will run in the State meet at Oaklawn, Thursday November 5. Girls will run at 9:00 followed by the boys at 9:45. For those interested in attending, the North gate for spectators will open at 8:30. You must purchase a digital ticket to enter. The link will be posted below.
When the 1A girls/boys races are over, fans are to leave the infield as quickly as possible by exiting out the under track tunnel exit that is across from the horse gazebo on the infield. They are not to exit back out the North entrance that they came in through. Spectators must wear a mask at all times and social distance.
Fan parking is in 2 locations: South side of First Baptist Church and the West Parking lot at Oaklawn Racing & Casino. Fans parking in the West Parking lot will walk down the sidewalk in front of Oaklawn Racing & Casino and enter through North gate entrance across from First Baptist Church.

Employee Spotlight: RENEE SMITH
Mrs. Renee is a West Side alumni starting her 20th year teaching at West Side! She currently teaches 3rd grade literacy, but has also taught 1st, 4th, 5th, & 6th grades. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, watching sporting events of her kids, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and her church family.

West Side showed support for kindergarten teacher, Tori Hipp, at Friday night's pink out game. The senior boys basketball team is showing their support for teammate, Dax's, mom and Student Council presented a check from the donations to Dax in his mom's absence.

Coach Megan Berry has been at West Side for 3 years. She is the girl's basketball and cross country coach as well as a physical education teacher. She enjoys spending time with her family and horseshowing in her spare time!
