Parents and guardians of athletes, mandatory athletic physical for all Grade 7-12 athletes (spring and fall sports) will be Friday, Aug. 15, at Brady-Hipp Arena from 8 am to noon. Athletes who cannot have a physical that day must have one elsewhere before being allowed to practice and participate in the 2025-26 school year.

Registration and new student orientation will be 8-11 am Monday, August 11.

Megan Smith Strain, a West Side graduate who is now principal of Center Valley Elementary in Russellville, recently presented a session during the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators' 50th annual Summer Convention in Little Rock. The presentation, with co-presenter Courtney Gunter, a counselor at the school, was titled "Building a Tiered System of Behavioral Supports Through Relationships and Responsibilities."
Join the school staff for Open House from 5 to 7 pm Monday, August 11! Meet teachers, bounce in the bounce house, snag a free backpack (limited supply), munch on a hot dog, pet the animals, find out about area businesses, sit for a haircut, and get the lay of the land!
During 7th Grade Orientation from 3:30 to 4:30 pm Thursday, August 7, parents and students will receive class schedules and locker combinations, and take a campus tour, in addition to meeting Dr. Jonathan Watson, new principal. West Side School District is pleased to announce its participation in the Community Eligibility Provision during the 2025-26 school year providing meals at no charge for all students of the Elementary and High School, which participate in the breakfast and lunch programs. This is made possible through the USDA Special Assistance Certification and Reimbursement Community Eligibility Provision. Employee and visitor prices will be $1.75 for breakfast and $3.50 for lunch.
Parents, just a reminder that this year, West Side will supply textbooks, pens and pencils, notebooks, paper, highlighters, index cards -- everything a student will need -- from preschool to Grade 12 with the exception of specialty items such as book bags.
