FLIGHT Camp-Equestrian week was a success! Students enjoyed horseback riding and getting to see a working farm in action.

West Side Class of 2027 students Lainee Gentry and Whitley Goodson recently attended the MASH (Medical Applications of Science for Health) Camp at Ozark Health in Clinton.
MASH is designed to introduce high school students to the many careers available in healthcare through hands-on learning, job shadowing, and interaction with healthcare professionals.
Throughout the week, students participated in a variety of engaging activities and presentations, including:
🦷 Learning about dental health from Dr. Kyle Hensley
🧠 Exploring the UAMS Telestroke Program
🎨 Creating tie-dye MASH camp shirts
🏥 Learning about general surgery and anesthesia from Dr. Dickinson, Trey Martin, CRNA, and Brooke Keith, APRN
🍎 Hearing from Hospice Home Care and Tabitha, Dietitian from Arkansas Children’s Hospital
🩺 Practicing suturing with Dr. Chad Simpson, a camp favorite!
🧼 Completing hand hygiene and infection prevention activities
👩⚕️ Exploring advanced practice nursing with Katie Dunham, APRN, Kayla Dollar, APRN, and Elizabeth Black, APRN
🐾 Discovering veterinary medicine careers with Dr. Deborah Brennan, DVM, MPA
🎓 Learning about medical school opportunities through presentations and activities led by Chris and Amy from UAMS

West Side Coaches would like to thank Mr. Terrance Osbourne of the Real Deal of Batesville for sponsoring our Skills & Drills Basketball Camp again this year. We had a good turnout with 60 kids in 1st-6th grade from West Side, Quitman, Timbo, Vilonia, and Bismarck. We look forward to having it again next year!
