This qualifies them for the High School National Championship💚🦅
What a day today was!!!! You are looking at the TBF Arkansas State Runner Up Team right here!!! And they have punched their ticket to the TBF/SAF High School National Championship on Grand Lake in Grove, OK in June!!! These boys fished their hearts out and caught 14.01 pounds with a 4.01 big bass. They came up a little short of first to a great team of seniors (not bad for an 8th and 9th grader).
They absolutely would not have accomplished this without the best boat captain around!! Toby Fife you have dedicated countless hours on and off the water for these two and have given up your valuable time to help them succeed…and succeed they did!! We appreciate you beyond measure! Thank you to everyone who has always supported these boys doing what they love. Fishing is tough and wins are sometimes spread out but this one takes the cake. These two never quit and always work hard! We are so proud of them and are excited for the big show in OK!!

The Arkansas Basketball Coaches Association Banquet was held on Monday, April 14. Emcee, Steve Sullivan presented awards to the "Top Five" basketball players in each classification, as well as awarding each classification "Coach of the Year". Coach Jeff Morgan, Athletic Director at Harding University, was the honored speaker. Pictured below are Lainee Gentry, Ashlyn Cossey, and Kately Cornett. They each earned the Top 5 Award for the Girls 1A Classification voted on by the ArBCA.
Also pictured is Coach Keith Cornett. He was awarded the 1A Girls Coach of the Year. Congratulations to Lainee, Ashlyn, Kately and Coach Cornett!

📣 The Senior-Faculty Games are an annual tradition where our 2025 seniors take on faculty for bragging rights in a fun-filled afternoon! 🏀🎉 Elementary students may not buy from the concession stand during the games, but they can pre-order items using the form going home today. 📝 All forms are due by April 24th. Games will be held April 29th!
Several West Side students competed yesterday in the State SkillsUSA competition at Hot Springs. CJ Parks won the General welding competition second year in a row for him and Jacob Jones finished second. CJ will go to Nationals in June in Atlanta. The welding Fabrication team of Landon Dodson, Max Gipson and Grayson Inzer won the welding fabrication competition. These three will also go to Atlanta in June for nationals. Randy Carr, welding instructor, thanked all the family that showed up and supported not only their own children and the other students. "I am very proud of these young men. God has blessed me for many years with the opportunity to teach kids a skill and I have been blessed with some great kids," Mr. Carr said. He also thanked The West Side School District for "letting me do what I Love to do for these kids. " He also had high praise for Donna Gallaway Carr "for putting up with listening to me and Ernie Murphree talk about welding all the time. She puts up with a lot and has to put life on hold for my competitions. " He added, "Most of all I want to give all the praise and glory to God because without I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. That’s for all the support from our community."
Seniors on the baseball and softball teams will be honored between the varsity and junior varsity home games vs. Shirley on Tue 4/22. The first team to finish will wait for the other team before the ceremony begins.
