Local Scouts present the Colors at tonight's 2nd annual West Side Veterans Program, conducted by Gifted and Talented students. Fifth- and sixth-grade students sang patriotic songs, including the service branch theme songs, and Grade 3-6 GT students presented information about West Side alumni who are veterans. High School GT students Levi Haile and Dennis Smith recognized other veterans. Air Force veteran Billy Higgins, a WS graduate, was keynote speaker.

West Side Gifted & Talented students would like to invite the public to the 2nd annual Veterans program on Friday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. Fifth- and sixth-grade students will share some patriotic music, and the GT students have prepared a tribute to our West Side Alumni who have served in our military. All family and friends are invited to attend. All veterans present will be acknowledged for their service to our country.

Haley Gentry, a 9th grader, won the State 1A/2A Cross Country meet today at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs. On October 17, she had the fastest District time in the Junior High Division and the Senior High Division, which were held the same afternoon.
