Parents, this is just a reminder to make sure your student’s shot record is up to date before the first day of school in August. Please call your local health department to see if your child needs a vaccine for school. The most common ages for new immunizations are 4 years old, 11 years old, and 16 years old. Also, if you choose to complete an immunization exemption form for your child, those must be renewed yearly through the health department. Final exemption letters are also due by the first day of school.

Pandemic SNAP
Arkansas has been approved to provide Pandemic Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for families whose children were enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program at school at the time the Governor declared a public health emergency and closed schools. It is designed to help replace the cost of meals incurred by families as a result of the State closing schools.
Since West Side SD is a CEP school, all West Side students should be eligible. Parents may want to contact the district during normal office hours to verify the accuracy of their mailing address.
Please visit the DHS website for details: https://humanservices.arkansas.gov/resources/response-covid-19/response-covid-19-client/pandemic-snap

Regrettably, West Side High School will not be able to have Prom this year. The known risks to students and staff are too great. That, combined with the difficulty of calculating a risk factor for a month in the future, when Prom would have been held, makes it impossible for us to guarantee students, staff, and the community a safe event.
While Prom has been an important tradition for juniors and seniors through the years, there are so many safety factors involved in social distancing this year that it is difficult to imagine that students and their dates would enjoy such a night.
The cancellation of Prom is very disheartening, but conducting an event of such importance, where some students might feel an obligation to attend, would be worse because it could put student's in a risky atmosphere.
