
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: SONJIA SUTTERFIELD
Mrs. Sonjia is a second grade teacher at West Side Elementary. This is her third year with the district. She loves fishing, going out on the lake, and spending time with her family in her free time. Thank you, Mrs. Sonjia for all you do!


STAR STUDENT: SAMUEL MCCARTY Samuel was selected as the star student for Mrs. Polly's first grade last month. He was recieved a water bottle filled with goodies and a certificate from SRO Donald Crispell for showing compassion to others.


West Side EAST students, Lee Wildman and Vincent Dyer, presented an Eddie the Eagle gun safety program to students in grades 1-4. Officer Donald Crispell also assisted with the program. Great job boys on helping to educate and ensure the safety of our Eagles!



There will be a parent meeting for 7th-12th grade GT parents on Thursday, January 21st in Mrs. Teresa's classroom at 5:30 pm. All parents and students are encouraged to attend as we will be discussing Student Success Plans, course requirements, honor graduation requirements, as well as AP and concurrent course offerings. Mrs. Terri Cornett will be on hand to help answer any questions. Hope to see you there! The meeting may change locations if crowding becomes a problem. There will be signs redirecting you if a change is made.


TOP SPELLERS: West Side held it's local spelling bee this week for grades 5-7. Makayla Henderson and Mallory Smith won overall winner and runner up as well as top honors for 6th grade. Weston Graham and Sadie Davis were winner and runner-up for fifth grade. Eli Baker was the 7th grade winner, and Madi Gomez was runner-up for the 7th grade. The top spellers in each grade will advance to the Cleburne County Bee later this year.




STAR STUDENT: GRADY CARLTON
Grady Carlton was presented a goodie-filled water bottle and certificate by Officer Crispell last month for showing compassion to others. Grady is in Mrs. Whitney's first grade class.

K-2 students in Mrs. Teresa's enrichment class learned about density last week. They experimented to see which items would sink or float in water. Second graders, Emmett Brown and Cooper Luker, are pictured with their experiment.



STAR STUDENT: TRINITY MCELROY
Trinity was selected as the star student in Mr. Caleb's fifth grade for December. She was chosen because of her demonstration of compassion to her classmates. Officer Donald presented her with a certificate and goodies last month.

STAR STUDENT: MADISON STEVENS
Madison was the 2nd grade star student in Mrs. Jennifer's class for December. She was selected because she shows compassion to others. Officer Donald presented her with a certificate and water bottled filled with goodies.


EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: TIM HARDIN
Mr. Hardin has been a high school math teacher at West Side for six years. While he is a man of many talents, his favorite past times are flying gliders, weaving, and stamp collecting. Thank you for all you do for our students, Mr. Hardin.


All of the West Side third graders received a dictionary today from the Rotary Club of Heber Springs and the Medley Club. A few of Mrs. Rachel and Mrs. Renee's students are pictured with them! A big thank you to these organizations for their generosity to our students!

West Side will host Timbo on Jan.8 at 4:30 for junior girls, junior boys, senior girls and senior boys basketball games. Tickets will not be available at the door, so if you would like to attend you will need to reserve tickets via this google form: https://forms.gle/4teGfU3NhPzQS7uR9. Gracie was selected as the star student in Mrs. Wanda's fourth grade for demonstrating compassion. Officer Donald presented Gracie with a certificate and water bottle filled with goodies last month.


West Side Junior, Caitlyn Salazar, and her aide, Mrs Jan, glazed a plate earlier in the year in art class. Love their smiles!



A meeting for Grade 7-12 parents and guardians of students who are considering virtual, at-home learning for the spring semester will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Brady-Hipp Arena. The meeting will take place in the upstairs classroom of Brady-Hipp Arena during the Timbo ballgames.
