
West Side Elementary has received a grant and has been approved to have an EAST Lab (Education Accelerated by Service and Technology) starting in the 2021-2022 school year! EAST will be offered by application to students in grades 3-6!

The Fairfield Bay Chamber of Commerce invites you and your family to their event, Cupcakes and Characters on Saturday, May 29th from 10 am – Noon. It will be at the Chamber/Visitor Center, 365 Dave Creek Parkway. This is a free event and open to the public! Come enjoy a cupcake, a water, and have your picture taken with as many characters as you would like.
This is a Donation only event. Donations will go towards projects at Shirley Elementary, Westside Elementary, Clinton Elementary, the Fairfield Bay Animal Protection League, The Van Buren County Literacy Council, and the Fairfield Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.

We are so proud of the West Side eSports Team in its first season of competition against other gaming teams in Arkansas. The State Team consists of Kolby Lockard, Jordan Ragsdale, Tyler Williams and Mason Thomas. They finished in the top half of league standings, 29th among 76 teams. We are looking forward to the fall, having gained experience in this first season of competitive play! The Regional Team finished 344th of 457 teams in 28 other states. Members of that team are Chad Price, Haven Ashlock, Logan Fields, Michael Brown, Devin James and Aubriana Williams.

STAR STUDENT: MORGAN WIXON

The West Side School District will have an art show at the Greers Ferry City Hall for the public to view. The show will be open to the public on Monday, May 17th and Thursday, May 20th from 10:00-4:00. There will also be an Open House on Wednesday, May 19th 3:00-4:00.


West Side’s baseball and softball teams won 1st Round games in the Class 1A State Tournament today. The baseball team plays Sacred Heart at 10 am Friday. The softball team plays Wonderview at 5:30 pm. Friday. Both games are at ICC.

Mrs. Kelli's 5th & 6th grade math students recently created Volume City! What a fun and exciting way to bring volume to life for the students! Excellent job, Mrs. Kelli!





Elementary awards assembly will be on Thursday, May 20, 2021. It will be located in the Gathright gym. Scheduled times are: 1st & 2nd grade @ 9:15-9:45, 3rd & 4th grade @ 10:00-10:30, 5th & 6th grade @ 10:45-11:15. Parents are invited and need to sit on the home side bleachers.

West Side's fourth grade top spellers recently competed in their local bee, and Robby Whitaker claimed the top spot! Kolton Long is the runner-up, and both boys will move on to the Cleburne County Spelling Bee later this month! Congratulations to all of the spellers on a great job!


West Side 3rd graders participated in the local spelling bee this week, and Easton Hurd came out on top! Ayden McElroy was the runner-up for his grade. Both boys will be able to go on to compete in the Cleburne County Spelling Bee later this month! Congratulations to all of the participants on a job well done!


Congratulations to the 2nd grade spelling bee participants at WSE! Waverly Verser is the winner, and Karma Betts is the runner-up of our local bee. Both girls will be able to participate in the county bee later this month. Congratulations to all of the spellers!


Congratulations to the 1st grade spelling bee participants at West Side Elementary! Jeinely Ruiz was the 1st grade winner, and Annabelle Stark was the runner-up! These girls will represent West Side in the Cleburne County Spelling Bee later this month! Way to go!


The West Side Eagles have done it again! Both the Lady Eagles Softball team and Eagles Baseball team will be competing in the 1A State Tournament tomorrow! These state trips make it official that the Eagles have competed in State Tournament for every sport this year! What an great way to end the year!




EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: ANDY CHISUM
Mr. Chisum has been the superintendent at West Side for eight years, and when he isn't here working, he enjoys spending time with his family ,especially his two little guys! He also enjoys playing golf. Thank you so much for your service to our school, Mr. Chisum!
