REMINDER: Flu shot forms are due by Wednesday for students and staff. Forms went home last week. Flu shots, with a few exceptions, are recommended everyone 6 and older. #Soaring2NewHeights


REMINDER: Student and staff flu shot forms, distributed last week, are due no later than Wednesday. A record number of flu vaccination doses were administered last year, when there were dramatically fewer flu illnesses and deaths. The clinic is Friday.

Kortnee Finch, a senior at West Side, took time this month to participate in the College Application Month event the school held. She applied to Arkansas State University at Beebe. Best wishes, Kortnee!

West Side's Pink Out night is Oct. 26, when the Eagles play Nemo Vista. Anyone can order a Pink Out shirt to support the fight against cancer by completing the form and submitting with payment to the High School office by Oct. 14. #Soaring2NewHeights


Senior, Thomas (Tom Cat) Murphree participated in the October College Application Month day at West Side. He plans to start his college career at the University of Arkansas at Beebe. Congratulations, Thomas!

West Side will host a community blood drive operated by the Arkansas Blood Institute. Donations from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday help save lives and help secure a scholarship for a senior. T-shirt, antibody test, and A1C for FREE! #Soaring2NewHeights


A COMMUNITY blood drive will be held at West Side School from 9:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13. Donors receive a glow-in-the-dark T-shirt and free entry to the Little Rock Zoo. Appointments may be scheduled at https://www.yourbloodinstitute.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/359979. Donations at this drive and two others during the school year could lead to a scholarship for a senior.


West Side's boys golf team, in state tournament play for the first time since 2015, finished runner-up today and sent two players to the overall state golf championship. Max Gipson, who finished 3rd individually, and Travis Gentry were the overall championship qualifiers -- earning All-State honors. Gentry is now an all-state performer in five sports, golf, baseball, basketball, tennis, and cross country. #Soaring2NewHeights


And the winner is...OTIS. Otis is a 25 year old brown bear who is now a 4 time winner in Fat Bear Week. Thank you, Mrs. Franzen for bringing this fun week to our students!
