Mrs. Kelli's 5th & 6th grade math students recently created Volume City! What a fun and exciting way to bring volume to life for the students! Excellent job, Mrs. Kelli!





Elementary awards assembly will be on Thursday, May 20, 2021. It will be located in the Gathright gym. Scheduled times are: 1st & 2nd grade @ 9:15-9:45, 3rd & 4th grade @ 10:00-10:30, 5th & 6th grade @ 10:45-11:15. Parents are invited and need to sit on the home side bleachers.

West Side's fourth grade top spellers recently competed in their local bee, and Robby Whitaker claimed the top spot! Kolton Long is the runner-up, and both boys will move on to the Cleburne County Spelling Bee later this month! Congratulations to all of the spellers on a great job!


West Side 3rd graders participated in the local spelling bee this week, and Easton Hurd came out on top! Ayden McElroy was the runner-up for his grade. Both boys will be able to go on to compete in the Cleburne County Spelling Bee later this month! Congratulations to all of the participants on a job well done!


Congratulations to the 2nd grade spelling bee participants at WSE! Waverly Verser is the winner, and Karma Betts is the runner-up of our local bee. Both girls will be able to participate in the county bee later this month. Congratulations to all of the spellers!


Congratulations to the 1st grade spelling bee participants at West Side Elementary! Jeinely Ruiz was the 1st grade winner, and Annabelle Stark was the runner-up! These girls will represent West Side in the Cleburne County Spelling Bee later this month! Way to go!


The West Side Eagles have done it again! Both the Lady Eagles Softball team and Eagles Baseball team will be competing in the 1A State Tournament tomorrow! These state trips make it official that the Eagles have competed in State Tournament for every sport this year! What an great way to end the year!




STAR STUDENT: DANIELLE JAMES
Congratulations to Danielle James for being selected as the Star Student in Mrs. Kelli's 5th grade. Danielle was selected because she demonstrates courage to those around her, and she received a certificate and goodie-filled water bottle from SRO Crispell. Way to go, Danielle!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: ANDY CHISUM
Mr. Chisum has been the superintendent at West Side for eight years, and when he isn't here working, he enjoys spending time with his family ,especially his two little guys! He also enjoys playing golf. Thank you so much for your service to our school, Mr. Chisum!

As part of their unit about ecology, 2nd graders in Mrs. Teresa's enrichment class recently spent some time making their environment a cleaner place by picking up trash left by others.





WSE recently celebrated some happiness with two of their teachers. Mrs. Kelli Dew welcomed her first child earlier this year, and Miss Cherie Hughes became Mrs. Cherie Grizzle! Congratulations to both of you!

Correction to the earlier post: The West Side Softball Team placed first in the Regional Tournament this weekend, and will play Thursday in the 1A State Tournament. The All Regional Eagles are Sam Corpier, Kortnee Finch, and Haley Gentry. Makenna Bittle was the Regional Tournament MVP! Congratulations to Coach Smith and the girls on your Conference, District, Regional Championships and Good Luck in State!



Congratulations to the West Side Baseball Team for qualifying for the 1A State Tournament. The boys took 3rd in Regionals and will play on Thursday at ICC in their first round of State Tournament. All Regional teams members were Asa Carr, Dax Hipp, and Travis Gentry! Good Luck Boys!

Jenny has been a cook at West Side for two years now, and the kids love to see her smile when they come through the lunch line. When she isn't at work, Jenny enjoys crafting with her kids, fishing with her family, baking, and working with the kids at church. Thank you, Jenny!
