How many years have you been teaching? 22 years! Where did you graduate highschool from? Greenbrier High School. What was your favorite subject in High School? Computer Business. Why did you become a teacher? I love working with kids and I want to make a difference in their lives. What is your favorite part of teaching at West Side School? The teachers and community have had a huge impact on me. What is your favorite characteristic in your students? They are all unique in their own ways, and they all have different quirks. It is so much fun to figure them out. What are your hobbies outside of school? Reading, camping, and boating. Who is your biggest role model, why? My mom is my biggest role model. Congratulations to the Lady Eagles!! They were victorious tonight over Emerson 65-62 in the state quarterfinals. The Lady Eagles will face Viola in the state semifinals tomorrow at 6:00 at Lake Hamilton HS. We will once again provide a pep bus for 7-12 grade students who wish to attend. Students will need to bring $6 for gate admission and a signed note from a parent/guardian in order to ride. The bus will leave at 2:00 PM and will return around 11:00 PM. Please show up and cheer your Lady Eagles on to the state finals! Go Eagles!

History. Why did you become a teacher? I had a friend that needed special education in high school; being around him inspired me. I knew then that I wanted to help kids like him! What is your favorite part of teaching at West Side High School? I love being with the kids, and being around them. I also LOVE being a junior class sponsor, and being around hardworking kids. What is your favorite characteristic in your students? My favorite characteristic in my students is that they enjoy the simple aspects of life that most people tend to take for granted. What are your hobbies outside of school? I love doing anything that has to do with being around and with my family. Who is your biggest role model, why? I have two, Mrs. Hutson. She is always hard working, and you can tell that she cares for her students. Also, Mrs. Terri Cornett, she is always so loving and kind, and her personality just encourages me! Congratulations to the Lady Eagles on their big state tournament win today! Good to them on Friday! We will once again take a Pep Bus on Friday: 7-12th grade students can sign up on Thursday and Friday to ride the pep bus to Lake Hamilton. To reserve your seat, bring $6.00 and a signed permission form. The money will be given back to you for admission to the game. All students must sign up in the high school office and have their $6 when they sign up. Signed permission slips must be turned in to the office as well. The bus will leave at 3:15 on Friday. All students on the bus need to wear GREEN or WHITE.

Science Why did you become a teacher? I am a third generation teacher, so I think I was always destined to be a teacher. I love to see my kids succeed and I am proud to be able to help them be the best they can be and learn to the best of their ability. What is your favorite part of teaching at West Side? I love my students and how much they love school. This is my hometown and I am proud to be a part of making West Side amazing! What is your favorite characteristic in your students? They all have the desire to learn in their own ways. I love the uniqueness of each student. Also, all the hugs second graders give make my days so much brighter. We will be celebrating the West Side Lady Eagles by sending them off to the 1A state basketball tournament tomorrow, March 3rd. They will leave the school around 12:40. We would like to invite the community and businesses to help paint the town green and white by decorating signs, windows, or vehicles. Watch for the school bus being led by officer David. We are saddened to share the news that West Side SD and the community lost a great man. For many years Mr. John Long the principal at West Side Elementary. He was a great person who will be remembered for his deep love and compassion for kids and his willingness to do anything in his power to help them succeed. Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
