Semester Exams are the Week of Dec. 17-21
West Side Staff
Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Fall semester Exam Week at West Side High School is December 17-21 for residential classes. (Students in concurrent college credit courses and Virtual Arkansas courses have completed their finals.) On or before Monday, December 17, Grade 7-12 students will know whether they are exempt from exams, which are based on absences and grades (students must have at least a B average with no more than three absences), and whether they can afford to miss part or all of a day earlier in the week. The parent of a student who cannot take an exam scheduled on Wednesday or Thursday (due to court, counseling, or medical appointment) must call the office to schedule a makeup exam.

SEMESTER EXAM SCHEDULE: December 17–21, 2018

Monday, Dec. 17 is a regular class day, and all students should attend unless they have a day available to take an absence for part or all of the day. Teachers will notify students of exemption status no later than this day.

  • Tuesday, Dec. 18 is Review Day. Only students who are taking exams should attend. These students may attend part or all of the day with parent’s permission; however, they may not leave campus and return in the same day.

  • Wednesday, Dec. 19 is a Testing Day for the odd periods -- 1st, 3rd, and 7th, and the day ends at 3:05. Students may miss testing periods for which they are exempt. Under no circumstances may a student leave campus and return the same day.

  • Thursday, Dec. 20 is a Testing Day for the even periods -- 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th, and the day ends at 3:05. Students may miss testing periods for which they are exempt. Under no circumstances may a student leave campus and return the same day.

  • Friday, Dec. 21 is a Makeup Test Day for students who have an excused absence for a documented a medical, counseling, or court appointment. No Grade 7-12 student should attend unless a prior arrangement has been made to make up a semester exam. School dismisses at 1:30 p.m. for students making up exams.
