Grade 7-11 Semester Exams are May 23-24
West Side Staff
Tuesday, May 15, 2018

Semester exams at West Side High School are approaching, and students and parents may need to plan end-of-school schedules based on test exemptions. On or before Tuesday, May 22, Grade 7-11 students will know whether they are exempt from exams, which are based on absences and grades (students must have at least a B average with no more than three absences), and whether they can afford to miss part or all of a day before Review Day. The parent of a student who cannot take an exam scheduled on Wednesday or Thursday (due to court, counseling, or medical appointment) must call the office to schedule a makeup exam.

SEMESTER EXAM SCHEDULE: May 21-25, 2018

  • Monday, May 21 is a regular class day, and all students should attend unless they have a day available to take an absence for part or all of the day. Teachers will notify students of exemption status no later than this day.

  • Tuesday, May 22 is Review Day. Only students who are taking exams should attend. These students may attend part or all of the day with parent’s permission; however, they may not leave campus and return in the same day.

  • Wednesday, May 23 is a testing day for the odd periods -- 1st, 3rd, and 7th, and the day ends at 3:05. Students who are exempt from tests during those class periods may miss part or all of the day.

  • Thursday, May 24 is a testing day for the even periods -- 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th, and the day ends at 3:05

  • Students who are exempt from tests may miss those class periods. Under no circumstances may a student leave campus and return the same day.

  • Friday is a makeup test day for students who have an excused absence for a documented medical, counseling, or court appointment. No Grade 7-12 student should attend unless a prior arrangement has been made to make up a semester exam. School dismisses at noon for students making up exams.
