West Side Anglers Win Scholarship Money in Greers Ferry Event

The 2017 Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Bass Tournament on Greers Ferry Lake went well Saturday thanks to everyone who came out in support of the competition, including 106.1 KFFB for on-site radio coverage.

Devin Carr, sponsor of the West Side Anglers, which helped to host the event, said, "I am very proud of the West Side Anglers and their captains for all of their hard work and dedication they put into the sport of High School Bass Fishing.  A very special thanks to all of our sponsors. I appreciate all that they do to help provide these opportunities to our student anglers throughout the year.

"I would also like to thank Fayetteville Shale and the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton for making all of this possible. The West Side Anglers are proud to continue to represent West Side High School and are looking forward to all of the wonderful opportunities the sport of High School Bass Fishing has to offer in the years to come right here on Greers Ferry Lake."

Saturday's results for the High School Division are as follows:

1st Place - $8,000 in Scholarships: Lamb/Weaver - Melbourne High School - 10.50 lbs.

2nd Place - $6,000 in Scholarships: England/Watson - Springhill High School - 8.03 lbs.

3rd Place $4,000 in Scholarships: Rhodes/Richardson - Jonesboro High School - 7.82 lbs.

$1,000 Community Enrichment Scholarship: Dawson Inzer - West Side High School

$1,000 Community Enrichment Scholarship: Austin Hewett - West Side High School

Also, the Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund donated $5,000 to the West Side Anglers to support West Side Anglers scholarship program and the club's efforts in spreading the pursuit of higher education through high school bass fishing in Arkansas.
