West Side’s baseball team beat Sacred Heart 13-6 on the final day of conference play to capture the No. 1 seed and Conference Championship headed into the 1A-5 District Tournament. West Side High School is pleased to host both the baseball and softball tournaments this week. Today’s softball lineup features the opening two games at 3:30 between Guy-Perkins and Shirley, and at 5 p.m. between Rural Special and Wonderview. The Game 1 winner plays West Side at 6:30 p.m.; the Game 2 winner plays Mount Vernon-Enola at 8 p.m. The semifinals of the softball tournament will be on Thursday, and the finals on Saturday.

The baseball tournament will be played Thursday through Saturday, with West Side, as a No. 1 seed, awaiting the winner of the Concord vs. Mount-Vernon Enola winner. In the other semifinal on Friday, Wonderview will play the winner of Shirley vs. Guy-Perkins.

The following week, West Side will host the Class 1A, Region 3 Softball and Baseball tournaments Thursday through Saturday. The top four teams of district advance to regional play; the top four from Region 3 advance to the State Tournament the following week.
